Shoutout to the guy who told me to stop buying games based on the box art

Some random dude at my local shop in Portland warned me that Dominion just looks boring but plays amazing, and I ignored him for like a year. Finally picked it up last month after seeing it win so many tournament lists, and now I feel dumb for judging it by its cardboard cover. Anyone else have a game they skipped because the art was ugly?

That thing about Dominion's box art being boring is so true, I read an article once that said the publisher almost changed it to sell more copies. I skipped Splendor for almost two years because the box looked like a generic casino game, now it's one of my most played. Lesson learned the hard way, I guess.

Local shop in my town has a copy of a game called "The Others" that's been sitting on the clearance rack for three years because the cover looks like a rejected 90s metal album. @fiona330 would appreciate that I finally bought it last week after the clerk admitted it's actually a solid co-op game that plays like a budget version of Zombicide. The minis are even painted in these garish colors that somehow work better in person.
