Sold my copy of Terraforming Mars after one play of Ark Nova
I had Terraforming Mars for about 3 years and played it maybe 10 times. It was fine but always felt like it dragged a bit. Then a friend brought over Ark Nova last month and wow, it just clicked way better for me. The action card system is way more flexible and the zoo theme is fun. I mean, I know both games are about engine building but Ark Nova just feels less repetitive. Has anyone else switched from one big game to another and felt like it was a straight upgrade?

I traded away my entire collection of deckbuilders for Wingspan once and my friends still bring it up at game night like I committed some kind of betrayal. Terraforming Mars felt like doing taxes on a rainy Tuesday for me, all that math and waiting for people to finish their turns. Ark Nova's action cards actually let me pivot mid-game when my brilliant plan falls apart, which happens every single time. My first game of Ark Nova I accidentally built a petting zoo next to a predator enclosure and my animals kept escaping, but at least it was funny. Sometimes a game just fits your brain better even if everyone else loves the other one.

Wait, didn't @anna567 say the petting zoo was next to the predator exhibit?
