Unpopular take: I hated the legacy games trend until Gloomhaven forced my hand

For like 3 years I rolled my eyes at everyone obsessing over legacy games, thought it was just a gimmick to sell stickers and destroyed cards. Then my group pooled $140 for Gloomhaven last fall and I got stuck as the organizer of the campaign. After 6 sessions I finally got it, the permanent choices actually make every decision feel heavy in a way normal games can't match. I still think most legacy games are overpriced, but the format itself is legit. Has anyone else flipped on a trend they were sure was stupid?

Same here, honestly. Hated the hype until my group made me run one. Now I get it.
