Went from sleeving every card to just bagging them, my Dominion setup time dropped from 10 minutes to 2
I used to be heavy into penny sleeves for every deck builder in my collection, and I figured it was the only way to keep stuff nice. Then about 8 months ago my group started meeting at a bar in Akron and I had to haul games in a backpack, so the sleeving got old fast. Now I just rubber band the decks and use a couple of ziplock bags for the loose tokens, and honestly the cards have held up fine after dozens of plays. My buddy says I'm a monster for it, but I don't miss sorting 300 cards back into sleeves at 1am. Does anyone else skip sleeves for games that mostly just shuffle around a table, or am I the only one here?
Been doing the same thing for a couple years now and my games still look fine. The trick that helped me was bagging each player's starting cards and tokens separately in snack bags, so setup is just handing out bags instead of digging through a pile. How big is your group, and does everyone help set up or is it all on you?
