Hit 500 tubes rolled in a single turnaround at the Whiting refinery and I'm not sure if that's something to brag about
We wrapped up a 6 week turnaround in Whiting, Indiana and I personally rolled 500 tubes on the convection section. Half the crew says that number means I was rushing and cutting corners, the other half says it just means I got a good rhythm with my partner. I know my torque was dialed in and every tube passed the hydro, but I'm second guessing whether chasing a number is the right way to think about this work. How do you all measure a good turnaround, by the count or by the quality of the joints?
Man I feel you on this one because it sounds like you did the work right and people are still making you second guess it. 500 tubes in 6 weeks is a crazy pace and if every joint passed hydro and your torque was good then the numbers took care of themselves, you didnt chase anything. The guys saying you rushed are probably the same ones who have never kept a rhythm like that with a solid partner, because honestly a good partner makes that count possible without cutting anything. Quality is what matters at the end of the day but dont let anyone take that number away from you either, it shows you put in the hours and stayed sharp. Sounds like a solid turnaround to me man, be proud of it.
