I finally got that old pressure valve on the boiler at the old mill to seal right

It was leaking a steady drip for three days straight, no matter how much I cranked on it. Ended up cleaning the seat with a wire brush and using a different grade of thread sealant, the thick paste kind. Anyone have a better trick for those worn-out flange faces?

How did you even sleep? My water heater had a slow drip once. Drove me nuts. I used that plumber's putty stuff as a quick fix, @hill.troy. Wrapped it tight around the pipe. Bought me a whole week to find the right part. That constant sound is the worst.
