I finally picked a Miller welder over a Lincoln last month for my home shop
Went with the Miller 211 because the local supplier had a better deal on the wire spools, and after running a few beads on 3/8 plate I am starting to wonder if Lincoln guys are just loyal to the name.

Lincoln guys are DEFINITELY loyal to the name, I swear some of them would swear by a blown-up machine. My buddy runs a 211 on 3/8 all day and his trick is just running multiple passes super slow and letting it cool between beads.

Man, you said "3/8 plate" and I literally had to read that twice. You ran beads on 3/8 with a 211? That's wild. I've got the same machine and I wouldn't even try that without preheating and some serious babysitting. You must have the dials cranked to max and your technique locked in. I'm honestly a little shook, my unit starts complaining on anything over 1/4 inch if I'm not careful.
