That weld blew on a 200 gallon tank in Gary last shift

I was working on a feed tank at a grain plant in Gary. Midway through a root pass on a 3/8 inch plate, the arc started sputtering and I got this wicked undercut. Turns out I had a loose ground clamp and moisture on the rod. Had to grind it all out and start fresh, cost me 45 minutes. Anybody else deal with crap ground connections messing up their work?

Man it's crazy how the smallest things like a bad ground can just wreck your whole flow. I've been noticing that pattern everywhere lately, not just welding but like with my lawnmower too. If the battery connection is loose even a little bit it'll sputter and die on me mid cut, makes me wanna throw the thing across the yard lol. You'd think after years of doing this stuff we'd learn to check that before starting but nah we just go for it every time.

Throw the mower across the yard, then weld the handle back on with a bad ground. That's the real cycle right there. I swear half my problems in the garage come down to something I coulda fixed in 30 seconds if I just looked first. But no, gotta spend an hour chasing my tail before I finally check the obvious thing. It's like we're allergic to doing the easy checks.
