The lead hand at the Gary job said my purge was too slow, and he was right
Two weeks ago I was purging a 6 inch line and figured 10 minutes was plenty. The lead hand, Ray, walked over and said "you're rushing it, that argon needs to sit longer" and made me go to 20. I cussed under my breath at the time but my root came out clean on the first pass, no sugaring at all. Been using his 2x rule on every purge since, and my reject rate dropped from 3 joints a shift to maybe one every other day. What's your purge time trick on thicker wall stuff?
