The shop floor lighting at our plant in Gary changed everything

I work at a boiler fab shop in Gary, Indiana and we swapped out our old fluorescent tubes for LED high bays about 4 months ago. The difference in how I see weld puddles and bead placement is night and day, I catch porosity way faster now. The foreman said it cost us $1,200 but we're saving almost 60 bucks a month on electric too. Has anyone else switched lighting and noticed a big difference in their weld quality?

Hit the nail on the head with that weld puddle visibility! I had the exact same thing happen in my little shop when I swapped out the old buzzing tubes for LEDs. Something nobody talks about though is how much it helps with your depth perception on tight fits. I do a lot of stainless tubing and the old lights made it hard to tell if I was looking at the actual joint or just a shadow of it. Now I can see the root gap clearly without having to stop and squint or reposition my head. Also cuts down on eye strain headaches at the end of a long day which is a huge bonus.

Wait, you're telling me you didn't just get better visibility but your depth perception actually improved too? That's wild and I honestly never considered that part of it. I guess clean consistent light makes your eyes work way less hard on the little details.
