Finally figured out why my book club hated my picks for 6 months straight
My friend pointed out I was only choosing 500-page literary fiction, and our group actually prefers mysteries. Anyone else have a genre blind spot they had to fix?

Spent a whole year trying to get my friends into dense history books about the industrial revolution. Turns out people don't want to read about steam engine patents for fun, who knew? Had a real moment where I realized I was basically assigning homework. Switched to true crime and suddenly everyone's interested again. Guess my blind spot was thinking everyone shared my niche obsession.

Wait, you spent a whole YEAR on that? That's some serious dedication to the cause, man. Honestly kind of impressive even if it didn't work. Most people would have given up after the first blank stare. The switch to true crime makes total sense though, it's like the universal backdoor into getting people to care about stories.
