My book club nearly fell apart over a single chapter
Last month in my local book club on Maple Street, one member said we should skip the last chapter of 'The House in the Cerulean Sea' because it was too predictable. I argued we had to read the whole book or why even join a club. Turns out she was right, that chapter wrapped things up too neatly and killed our whole debate about the ending. Three people actually dropped out after that meeting because they felt the discussion was pointless now. Has anyone else had a book club member push to skip parts of a book and have it actually work out better?
