My book club read a romance novel and it turned into therapy
Last month our group picked a steamy romance set in a small coastal town. Everyone came in ready to roast it, but by page 50 people were admitting they cried over a scene about a character forgiving her dad. One member even said it made her call her own dad for the first time in 3 years. Has anyone else had a book totally shift the vibe of your whole meeting like that?

Wow, that hits close to home. It's amazing how a book can sneak up on you like that and make you deal with stuff you've been putting off for years.

That bookstore scene in chapter 12 where she finally let go of her dad's old fishing rod hit me harder than I expected. I was skimming through the racy parts and then bam, that moment came out of nowhere. One of our members actually stopped midway through the meeting to text her brother about their mom's birthday after a similar part in the book. Pretty wild how a book about hot summer flings ends up making everyone look at their own family stuff.
