My buddy in Denver bet me $20 I couldn't finish a book in a week, and I hate that he was right about why
We were arguing about our book club pick back in February and I kept saying nobody actually reads the whole thing, we all just skim the last chapter and bluff our way through. He pulled a $20 out of his wallet and said the reason I skim is that I read like I'm scrolling, jumping around and never sitting with a chapter. So I tried it his way, phone in the other room, one chapter a night, and finished the whole book in 6 days. The part that bugs me is I actually remembered details at the next meeting for the first time in years. Now I think the rest of our group is bluffing way less than I assumed and I'm the odd one out. How do you all actually get through a book before meeting night, or am I alone in the skimming camp?
