Our book club hit 12 straight meetings with no one finishing the book
I was tallying attendance for our group in Denver and realized we've had a full dozen sessions where at least half the members didn't finish the pick. It started last fall with a 600-page fantasy novel that people found slow. Now it's a pattern, even with shorter books. We spend the first 30 minutes just summarizing the plot for each other. Has your group ever gotten stuck in a rut like this?

Honestly, that sounds like your book picks might be the real issue, not the group's habits. A 600-page fantasy novel is a huge ask for a monthly club. Maybe try picking shorter, faster paced books for a few months to break the cycle. You could even vote on a couple of quick reads under 300 pages. What's the last book everyone actually finished?

Our last 600-pager had 90% attendance, Clark.Kelly.
