PSA: I thought the whole 'annotate as you read' thing was just extra homework
My group in Portland argued for it, so I tried marking up 'Klara and the Sun' with a pencil. It actually made our debate WAY better because I had my notes right there. Anyone else have a method they fought against that actually worked?

Totally thought sticky notes were just for kids. Tried them on a library copy of a history book, putting little flags on parts that confused me. Ended up saving so much time when I went back to study.

Wait, @lee627, don't you think writing in the margins is actually part of forming your own thoughts? I tried that "just read it" approach with a dense book on cognitive science and ended up forgetting everything a week later. Scribbling questions and reactions as I go forces me to actually argue with the author instead of just nodding along. @sethmartinez has the right idea with flags too. Writing down a quick "wait this contradicts page 47" right there in the margins is way more specific than trying to remember my confusion later.
