Rant: That book club in Denver where nobody actually read the book
I sat in on a book club meetup at a coffee shop last Tuesday and overheard the host admit she only skimmed the first chapter of 'Pachinko.' Then four other people chimed in saying the same thing and they just moved on to talking about a Netflix show. Am I the only one who thinks that defeats the whole point of having a book club?

MAN, THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY. My friend Sarah went to a book club in Austin last year and the host straight up admitted she only read the Wikipedia summary of "The Goldfinch." Then like half the group said they just watched the movie instead. They spent the whole time arguing about whether the movie was better than the book. My friend said she just sat there drinking her coffee wondering why she even bothered finishing the 800 page novel.

So half the group didn't even read the book?

Oh man, @anthonyhunt is right. I once showed up to a club and the book was still in my shopping cart.
