Serious question, a guy at my book club in Cincinnati said he skips any book over 400 pages and I can't stop thinking about it
We were picking our next read and he voted down three picks in a row just based on page count, didn't even care what they were about. Half the group backed him up, saying long books kill attendance by week two. So how do you all handle the big ones, read them anyway or just accept they never make the list?
Ask him if it's really the page count or if it's the commitment that scares people off. Because honestly a 450 page book that reads fast is way different than a 300 page slog, and skipping books just on length feels like throwing out good picks for no real reason. What happens if someone brings a 500 pager that everyone actually loves, does he still vote it down on principle?
