Switched to smaller discussion groups in our book club and it changed everything
We went from 12 people arguing over one novel to groups of 4, and now we actually finish books in 3 weeks instead of 2 months. Has anyone else tried breaking into smaller pods for deeper talks?

Our big group could spend 45 minutes just deciding who's bringing snacks, so smaller pods sound like a lifesaver. My book club would probably still somehow turn that into a 20 minute debate about whether hummus counts as a vegetable or not. Honestly, 4 people sounds like the perfect number to actually get past page 12 before someone derails everything with a tangent about their neighbor's cat. Maybe we'll finally finish a book that isn't just the one movie adaptation we all hate-watched together.

Hummus is pretty much just blended chickpeas and oil, so it's definitely in the bean family not a vegetable. I made that mistake once and my vegan friend gave me a whole lecture about it. But hey, at least you'd get a solid 20 minutes of debating instead of arguing about whose turn it is to bring the wine.
