That $60 audiobook on ancient Rome was 20 hours of filler
I picked up a highly rated audiobook about Roman engineering for a 25 hour road trip from Austin to Denver. Turned out the author spent 6 chapters on aqueduct trivia and barely covered concrete or the Colosseum's drainage. I got 3 hours in and realized the narrator had a weird lip-smacking habit that drove me nuts. Returned it through Audible's policy, but I wasted my first 3 hours of the drive and half my patience. Has anyone else hit a book that looked great on paper but was pure padding?

Did you try skipping ahead to the concrete chapters or was it buried somewhere in the back half too? I'm curious if the padding was front-loaded or if it was spread out the whole way through. Feels like some authors just stretch one good lecture into a whole book.
