TIL arguing over a soup recipe in a book club made me rethink my cooking

Our club debated a novel where the protagonist makes a traditional soup. I thought the recipe was too simple, but others said it showed character growth. This made me realize I always overcomplicate my own dishes. Now I stick to basic recipes and find them more satisfying. It's changed how I approach weeknight dinners.

Sometimes simple just works better in the kitchen.

Absolutely! I watched my roommate ruin three steaks trying some fancy marinade before he just tried salt, pepper, and a hot pan. The simpler one was perfect. People get lost in all the recipes and weird ingredients and forget the basics. Why make a sauce with ten things when butter, garlic, and lemon do the job every time?
