Unpopular opinion: audiobooks don't count as reading for book club
I brought this up at my last meetup in Austin after everyone was praising a novel I struggled through, and three members admitted they only listened to it on 2x speed while driving. I found that rereading physically forced me to slow down and catch details I'd miss with narration. Has anyone else noticed a difference between listening and actually seeing the words on the page?

The three people at 2x speed in a car is exactly the problem. I tested this myself last year with "Project Hail Mary" - listened to it first, then read the physical book. Missed like 30% of the technical details through audio, even at normal speed. Your brain just can't pause and re-read a sentence that way unless you're constantly rewinding, which nobody does.
