I was at the main library downtown and their repair shelf looked different
They used to have a whole cart of books waiting for new spines and corners, but now it's just a single box. The librarian said they send most of it out now. Does your shop still handle a lot of library repairs, or is that mostly gone?

Send most of it out" just sounds like they're cleaning the shelf, not ending a tradition.

That shift to sending things out is really interesting. Do you know if it's a cost thing, or maybe they just don't have the staff time for in-house repairs anymore?
