My awl snapped mid-sew on a nearly finished journal
I was working on a coptic stitch journal last night, like 30 pages already sewn, and my awl just gave out. The handle split right in two when I was making the last set of holes. I had to dig out a finishing nail from my toolbox to finish the job. Has anyone else had a tool fail on them at the worst possible time?

man that sucks. i had a pair of scissors just completely lock up mid cut once on a thick piece of bookcloth, had to finish with kitchen shears. tool failures always happen right at the end too, never at the start when you can just walk away. felt like the universe was testing my patience lol. at least the nail worked out for you, sometimes the ghetto fixes end up feeling more solid than the original.
