Picked up a used backing press instead of a finishing press last weekend
Was at an estate sale in Akron and had to choose between a worn backing press for $60 and a pristine finishing press for $150. I went with the backing press cause my rounding was always sloppy - anyone else make a call between tools and regret it?

Ever notice how we always pick the tool that fixes our biggest weakness first?

And @oliver_anderson's buddy with the nipper is a good example of that actually. I've seen guys pick up a tool that's totally wrong for most jobs just because it covers one specific thing they're bad at. Like they'll buy a 15 inch chainsaw for limbing when they can barely start a 50cc saw. It's not always the smartest move but it makes sense if you think about it. You're not trying to be good at everything, you're trying to stop tripping over that one stupid thing that keeps getting in your way.
