Pro tip: Stop using PVA glue on book spines

I went to a workshop last month and the instructor pointed out how many hobby binders use PVA for spine hinges. She said it cracks after a year or two because it dries too rigid. I checked my own books from 2021 and sure enough, three of them had split right down the hinge line. Has anyone else switched to a flexible adhesive like EVA or animal glue for spines?

Huh, is this really a widespread issue or just a few bad batches? I've got books from years back held together with basic PVA and they're still fine.

Honestly, @iris_jones89, I read that PVA's stiffness makes it fail on spines over time.
