The bindery shop in Denver I used to work at closed down

Went by old Joe's Bindery off Colfax last week and saw a 'for lease' sign... place had been there since the 70s. Joe was a real old timer, used horsehide glue straight from a pot on a hot plate, no synthetic stuff. He showed me how to pare leather with just a spokeshave once, and I still use that trick. I guess the landlord wanted too much rent, but has anyone else lost a good local shop that way?

Went by my old guitar repair spot downtown and found a vape shop in its place last month, same story with the rent hike.

Man, that hits hard. My buddy used to take his Les Paul to a little repair spot in Lakewood called Mike's Guitar Works, guy had been there since the 80s. Last summer I drove by to drop off an old acoustic and it was a frozen yogurt place. Mike was the only guy in town who could fix a warped neck without charging an arm and a leg. Landlord tripled the rent on him and he just couldn't swing it. Makes me mad thinking about it, places like that have real skill you just can't find online or at a chain store.
