TIL the hard way that PVA glue dries way faster in winter

I was glueing up a text block last week and the PVA was skinned over before I even got the spine lined up. Took me like 3 hours of scraping and redoing before I realized my shop was 55 degrees. Had to set up a space heater and wait 20 minutes for the glue to behave. Anyone else run into seasonal glue issues like this?

Well, I have to disagree with you on this one. I actually find that colder temperatures give me more working time with PVA since it takes longer to set up, and I've never had it skin over like that. Maybe the real issue was the specific brand of glue you were using, not the season.

Honestly, you're taking this glue temperature thing way too seriously. It's glue. It's not that deep. I bet most people just slap it on and hope for the best, not measuring the thermostat every five minutes. Ngl, if you're this worried about your PVA skinning over, maybe the real problem is you need a new hobby or something.
