Vent: The weirdest thing I saw at the big library book sale in Portland

Honestly, I was digging through the old books and found a 1950s cookbook someone had clearly rebound themselves. Tbh, they used what looked like leftover floral contact paper from a kitchen counter and hot glue. Ngl, the pages were held in with three metal binder clips. It was so wild I had to buy it for $2 just to show my guild. Has anyone else found a truly baffling DIY binding in the wild?

That binder clip method is actually a legit temporary repair for a broken spine. The Portland library volunteers probably just wanted to keep it sellable. The contact paper and glue is the truly unhinged part.

Seems like a lot of fuss over a book fix... it's just paper and glue, not a crime scene.

That contact paper choice is sending me. Like, they were halfway through a kitchen reno and just went for it. The binder clips are a weirdly practical touch though.
