Warning about cheap PVA glue on spine repairs, I almost lost a 1930s family Bible
I grabbed a $3 bottle of no-name white glue at a dollar store in Reno 2 weeks ago to fix a cracked spine on my aunt's 1930s Bible, and the hinge went stiff and yellow in about 10 days. Switched to proper pH-neutral PVA from my local shop for the redo and it flexed fine, no staining, no cracking. Has anyone else run into that cheap stuff going bad after a year, or did I just get a bad batch?
