My fiddle leaf fig was dying for months and I just figured out why

Kept giving it more water when the leaves got brown. My sister came over, stuck her finger in the dirt, and said 'this is swampy'. Realized I was drowning it. The pot didn't have a drain hole. How do you even fix that without killing the roots?

Can you drill a hole in it?

That drill bit cost more than the whole project.

Wait, wait, wait. "This is swampy"? She just stuck her finger in and called it a swamp? That's hilarious and also terrifying because your plant was basically living in a bucket. But hold on, you had no drain hole at ALL? That's wild, man. I killed a succulent once doing the exact same thing, never even checked the bottom of the pot. For the fix, honestly, you probably have to just repot it. Gently lift the whole root ball out, shake off the soggy dirt, and put it in a pot with a real hole. Don't try to drill one while the plant is in there, you'll wreck everything.
