My humidity dome turned into a mold farm in 3 days

Set up a seed starting station in my basement near Syracuse last month. Woke up to white fuzz on every single tray. Turns out I sealed the domes too tight and never cracked the vents. I wiped everything down with a diluted peroxide mix, ditched the domes for plastic wrap with holes poked in it, and put a small fan on low nearby. Cut the mold down to nothing and the tomatoes sprouted. Has anyone else had luck with that setup or do you just skip domes entirely?

Domes are actually supposed to be sealed tight, that's the whole point of trapping moisture and heat for germination. Mold shows up when your soil is too wet or dirty to begin with, not because the vents were closed. Wiping with peroxide and adding a fan just dries things out faster, which means you're fighting the very conditions seeds need to pop. You basically traded a mold problem for slower, weaker sprouts, but hey, if it works for you then whatever.
