My Monstera pot cracked after just 8 weeks in the sun

I bought one of those cheap terracotta pots from Lowe's back in March for my Monstera. After 8 weeks on my south-facing porch in Phoenix, I noticed a hairline crack that turned into a full split. I ended up transferring it to a plastic nursery pot with better drainage holes and it's doing fine now. Has anyone else had terracotta break down fast in direct heat?

Oh man, same thing happened to me! Tbh I bought two matching terracotta pots from Home Depot for my snake plants and put them on my west-facing balcony here in Tucson. Within a month one had a huge crack running down the side. I was so annoyed because they weren't cheap. Honestly I think the constant heat and direct sun just dries them out too fast and they can't handle the expansion. Swapped mine for glazed ceramic pots and they've been fine for over a year now. Ngl I'm never buying plain terracotta for outdoor use again, it's just not worth the hassle.

Wait do you think the color of the pot matters or just the material?
