My neighbor said my tomato plants looked 'too happy' and needed more stress
He walked over last month, pointed at my beefsteaks in Denver, and told me to stop watering them so much to improve the flavor. I cut back to once a week, and now the fruits are way more intense, but the leaves look kinda sad. Has anyone else gotten weird gardening advice that actually worked?

My grandpa always said to water tomatoes every other day without fail. I followed that rule for years until a dry spell hit during a long haul. Came back to the saddest looking plants but the best tasting romas I've ever grown. Your neighbor might be onto something with that tough love approach.
