Rant: I keep seeing people water their snake plants way too often and wondering why the leaves turn yellow

I spotted three different neighbors drowning their sansevieria every week like it's a fern, when those things only need a drink maybe once a month in winter, has anyone else had to bite their tongue watching someone kill a perfectly good plant with kindness?

Killing a perfectly good plant with kindness" sums it up, just let the soil dry out fully between waterings.

@ray_mitchell nailed it with that phrase. My buddy Marcus got gifted a snake plant from his mom and she told him it was "indestructible" so he watered it every Sunday like clockwork. Three months later the thing was mush from the bottom up, leaves all yellow and floppy. He called me all confused asking why his "indestructible" plant died. I had to break it to him that he basically loved it to death. Took him a while to admit he was watering it way more than once a month because he thought all plants needed weekly drinks. Now he's got a new one that sits bone dry for weeks and it's doing great.
