Showerthought: My neighbor said his fern was 'feeling dramatic'

Heard my neighbor talking to his Boston fern on his balcony. He said, and I quote, 'You're just being dramatic about the light.' I stood there holding my watering can for a full minute. It made me think we all give our plants way too much personality. But maybe that's the fun part. Do your plants have a 'mood' you have to work around?

That Boston fern is getting direct feedback on its performance. My spider plant just silently drops brown tips when it's mad at me. Plants are the quietest drama queens I've ever met.

Brown tips usually mean the water is too hard or there's not enough humidity. Try using filtered water and misting the leaves every few days. Spider plants are picky about chemicals in tap water, mine did the same thing until I switched. It's like they're giving you a silent review until you figure it out.
