Switched to a $15 LED grow bulb from the hardware store last month and my succulents stopped stretching out overnight.

My aloe was leaning so bad I thought it was gonna topple over, but three weeks under that cheap light and it's finally growing straight up again, has anyone else seen results with non specialty bulbs?

MAN that's good to hear because I've been wondering the same thing! What's the exact wattage and color temperature on that bulb you're using? I grabbed a 100 watt equivalent daylight LED for like 8 bucks and my jade plant seems happy but I'm not sure if the color matters that much for these guys.

Yeah that daylight bulb works great, my jade put out new leaves within a week with it.
