Why does nobody talk about how much water a Monstera actually needs?

I mean, I followed the 'let it dry out' advice for 6 months and mine barely grew, but after I started watering it twice a week in my apartment, it put out 3 new leaves in a month. Has anyone else had a plant totally defy the common care rules?

Right? The "let it dry out" thing is such a trap. It's all about your own light and heat, not a rule.

Ngl "watering the pot not the plant" just blew my mind a little.

Exactly, the "trap" part is so true. People forget that the pot itself changes the game. A tiny plastic pot holds water way longer than a big terracotta one. So if you just follow a calendar, you're watering the pot, not the plant. It's about feeling the weight of the thing, not just the top inch of soil.
