DAE think the whole 'post 3x a day' advice is killing brands?
I run social for a small coffee gear shop in Portland and for 8 months I posted 3 times a day like every guru says. Engagement stayed flat at about 40 likes a post and our follower count barely moved past 2,100. Two months ago I dropped to 3 posts a week and put the extra time into answering comments and DMs, and we hit 3,400 followers. The crazy part is sales from social went up 22 percent even though we post way less. Has anyone else found that less posting actually built more trust for their brand?
We stopped sending our kid to a school that gave out a prize every single day and switched to one that only did it once a week, and his whole attitude changed. He actually cared about earning it instead of just expecting it. That is what your coffee shop story reminds me of. When you post nonstop, people's brains just tune it out like background noise, the same way we ignore billboards on the highway. Three good posts a week with real replies probably feel like a friend talking instead of an ad yelling. The 22 percent bump makes total sense because trust sells way better than volume ever will.
