Dropped $200 on a 'brand strategy' course that was just common sense
I figured a professional course would help me level up my brand management game, so I paid $200 for some online thing. Turns out it was just a guy reading slides about 'know your audience' and 'be consistent' for 6 hours. The only useful thing I got was a template for a brand voice chart, which I could have Googled for free. Anyone else waste cash on a course that didn't deliver anything new?

Did the course actually teach you anything about measuring results or did it skip that part? I took a marketing workshop once that was all about "finding your voice" but when I asked how to track if that voice was actually working, the instructor got real quiet. A lot of these courses are designed by people who've never run a real campaign where you'd get fired if the numbers didn't add up. Your brand voice chart is nice, but without data to back it up, it's just decoration. The real skill nobody teaches is knowing when to ignore the "rules" based on what the numbers tell you. Take it from someone who's burned through a few of these myself, most of them are built to sell dreamland not results.

Oh man, you are not wrong. I swear half these courses are just "here's a fancy chart" and hoping nobody asks for the receipts. The quiet room trick is the real giveaway they don't have answers.
