Dropped $400 on a logo redesign from a random freelancer on Upwork and it's completely unusable

I figured I'd save some cash instead of going with my usual agency, but this guy sent me 3 concepts that look like clip art from 2005. The files aren't even vector, they're low-res PNGs. Has anyone else had a bad experience trying to cheap out on brand design?

Did you ask to see their portfolio before you paid them? A lot of freelancers post fake work or steal other designers' stuff.

Man, that sucks. A buddy of mine paid $250 for a logo and the freelancer literally just put his company name in a free font and called it a day. Did they at least give you a revision round?
