Pro tip: Overhauling your brand voice without testing can backfire fast

I changed our tagline after a leadership retreat in Chicago, and within two weeks our organic social engagement dropped by 30 percent because loyal customers didn't recognize us anymore, so we rolled back to the old wording and ran a proper A/B test before moving forward again anyone else run into pushback from longtime fans when you try to freshen things up?

A/B testing first would've saved you that whole headache honestly.

and completely agree with you on that a/b stuff. in my experience, even small tweaks can feel like a whole new personality to the people who've been following you for years. i ran into the same thing with our newsletter sign-up form, we changed the wording from 'join our community' to 'get updates' and our conversion dropped almost overnight. we had to roll it back too and test it slowly with a small percentage of traffic before moving forward. it's wild how much emotional attachment people have to your voice, even if it's just a few words. your mileage may vary of course, but i think if it ain't broken don't fix it without proof first.
