Pro tip: that $1,800 "brand strategy" consultant gave us a 40 page deck of stuff we already knew
I hired a consultant in March for $1,800 to help with our brand voice before a big pitch, and what we got back was a 40 page deck full of words like "authentic" and "bold" that anyone on my team could have written in an afternoon. The only real work was a one hour call where she asked us questions we had already answered in the intake form. I'm not saying all consultants are useless, but I think most small shops are better off just talking to five of their best customers and writing down what they say. Has anyone found a cheaper way to do this, like a workshop format or just doing it in house?
