Showerthought: Apple Maps actually works better than Google Maps in downtown Dallas

I spent last week in Dallas for work and used Apple Maps by accident because my phone was dying. It kept me out of construction zones and found parking near my hotel, while Google Maps had me circling for 20 minutes. Am I missing something or has anyone else noticed one map app just works better in certain cities?

Did you try Waze in that area too? I had almost the exact same thing happen in Austin where Apple Maps routed me around a parade while Google tried to take me straight through it. It's weird how much location matters for these apps.
