TIL that writing down 5 words my customers keep saying did more for my brand than a $900 logo tweak
Last month I was sitting at my kitchen table in Columbus trying to figure out why my coffee cart brand felt flat, and a friend told me to just listen to what people say when they order. I wrote down the same 5 words over and over for two weeks: "strong," "quick," "friendly," "cheap," and "morning." So I stopped fussing over my logo and started using those exact words on my cups, my signs, and my Instagram bio. Within 3 weeks my regulars went from about 12 to 30, and two people literally quoted my sign back to me. Turns out my brand voice was hiding in plain sight the whole time. Has anyone else tried pulling brand language straight from customer chatter instead of a brainstorm session?
