Warning: That brand audit tool I tried pulled up 34 outdated links I missed

I used a popular automated brand audit tool last month to scan my small business website and it flagged 34 outdated links and 12 broken redirects I had no idea about. Turns out the tool was scraping old sitemaps and not my live site, so half those issues were already fixed or never existed. Has anyone else gotten burned by automated audit tools giving false flags like this?

Totally agree with you on double checking everything. I ran one of those tools on my client's site and it told me 15 images were missing alt text. But when I actually looked at the live page code, all the alt text was there. The tool was only checking the first 500px of the page so it missed the rest. Ended up wasting a whole afternoon digging through false flags. Now I just manually click through my own site with a notepad open, takes longer but at least I know the data's real.

Used to swear by those automated audit tools for quick checks... thought they were the gold standard. Then I ran one on my own site and it flagged a bunch of "broken" links that I knew were actually working fine because I'd just updated them. It pulled data from an old cached version of my sitemap, not what was live. Made me realize you gotta double check everything with your own eyes before taking those reports at face value.
