I finally stared at my ice cubes for 20 minutes and now I get why people collect them
Started messing around with directional freezing about 3 weeks ago and the difference in clarity between my first batch and my tenth batch is nuts, the first ones were cloudy white and now they're totally see through. I use a cheap Igloo cooler with the lid off and a small fan pointed at it, costs me nothing but time. Anyone else here clear ice obsessed or am I just wasting freezer space?
Isn't it funny how the upgrade from clear ice to cloudy ice is the exact opposite of what we expect with regular ice? Same thing happens with coffee, once you start noticing the small stuff it kind of ruins you for the lazy version forever. Keep going with it, that tenth batch clarity is a real thing.
