Overheard a guy at the hobby store say he trains his pet pigeon to deliver notes to his neighbor

So I'm at Hobby Lobby buying glue sticks last Saturday and this older guy is telling the cashier about his pigeon that flies notes to his neighbor's birdhouse for fun. He said the trick was using sunflower seeds as rewards and starting with short distances like 10 feet at a time. I just stood there holding my glue sticks for like 5 minutes listening to him explain how he built a tiny landing pad on their porch. Has anyone else tried something this weird with a pet?

omg @wendygrant that's so cute lol. a friend of mine had a budgie that would mimic the microwave beeping and then fly to the kitchen anytime someone heated up food
