The $60 retro gaming CRT that turned my living room into a physics lab

Picked up a beat-up Sony Trinitron off Facebook Marketplace for 60 bucks, figured it'd be fun for old school games. Got it home and realized I had no idea how to carry a 90 pound tube TV up two flights of stairs without breaking my back or the TV. My buddy and I strapped it to a hand truck with ratchet straps, then he put a bunch of towels on the stairs and we slid the whole thing down... wait, up, we slid it up, which took like 45 minutes and a lot of grunting. Once it was running, the picture was all wavy and green at the top. I spent three hours watching YouTube videos about degaussing coils and yoke adjustments, and my wife just stood there laughing saying "you bought a project, didn't you?" Now I've got a full calibration kit and I'm obsessed with adjusting geometry via the service menu. Has anyone else gone down the CRT rabbit hole and ended up buying test patterns and a magnifying glass for something that was supposed to be plug and play?
