The guy at the flea market in Tulsa sold me a $5 box of vintage bottle caps and then quizzed me on them
So I started collecting old bottle caps about 4 months ago, and last Saturday I dug through a bin at a flea market in Tulsa. This older fella running the booth pulled out a 1962 Dr Pepper cap and asked me to name the plant it came from, and when I just shrugged he laughed and said "son, you bought a box with 300 caps and you don't know one of them." He then spent 20 minutes showing me how to read the tiny codes on the crimped edge to date them. I walked off feeling like I'd just taken a pop quiz I didn't study for. Any other cap collectors know a good way to learn those plant codes without bothering a stranger at a flea market?
